NOTEPAD দ্বারা আপনার ANTI VIRUS CHECK করুন

আপনার install করা Antivirus programe ঠিক মত কাজ করছে কিনা তা কি আপনি জানেন? আপনার ANTIVIRUS CHECK করুন আমার দেওয়া নিচের পদ্ধতিতে।

• Notepad Open করুন
• notepad file এ
  নিচের code টা Copy করুন

• .exe নামে Save করুন যেমন testvirus.exe নামে আমি করেছি

আপনি save করার সাথে সাথে, আপনার anti virus program টি detect করবে যে file টি(virus) এবং delete করার চেষ্টা করবে . যদি এমনটা হয় তবে Antivirus programe টি ঠিক মত কাজ করছে বলে মনে করুন। আর যদি এমনটা না হয় তবে বুঝবেন যে আপনার antivirus ঠিক মত কাজ করছে না আপনাকে অন্যকোন antivirus ব্যবহার করতে হবে  then its time to look for some other reliable program.
NOTE: এই test file টি  16-bit application এ প্রযোজ্য  এটা 64-bit versions of Windows এ কাজ করবে না।

UPS ছাড়াই ব্যাকআপ রাখুন অফিস ফাইল !!!

যাহারা MS Word বা MS Excel ফাইলে কাজ করেন; তারা তারা একটু লক্ষ্য করুন অনেক কাজে লাগবে। কারন: অবশ্যই জানেন যে Excel ফাইলে Save দেওয়ার পর তা সাধারনত Undo করা যায় না । এই টিপসটা ব্যবহার করলে সহজেই সেইভ করার পর আগের অবস্থায় ফিরিয়ে আনতে পারবেন । শুধু তাই নয়, এই পদ্ধতি ব্যবহার করলে ফাইলটি অটোমেটিক ১ মিনিট পর পর সেভ করা যাবে।  তাতে কাজের  মাঝখানে বিদ্যুৎ চলে গেলেও ১ মিনিট আগ পর্যন্ত যতটুকু কাজ করেছিলেন তা ফেরত পাবেন । তো চলুন শুরু করা যাক :

For Excel :

১। প্রথমে একটি ফাইল ওপেন করুন,
২। Tools মেনু থেকে Options এ ক্লিক করুন,












৩। এবার Save ট্যাবে ক্লিক করে Save AutoRecover info every: 1 minutes লিখে চেক বক্সে টিক দিয়ে দিন।
৪। এর Ok করুন।

For Word :

১। প্রথমে একটি ফাইল ওপেন করুন,
২। Tools মেনু থেকে Options এ ক্লিক করুন
৩। এবার Save ট্যাবে ক্লিক করে Always create backup copy চেক বক্সে টিক দিয়ে দিন।


















৪। Save AutoRecover info every: 1 minutes লিখে চেক বক্সে টিক দিয়ে দিন।
ব্যাস কাহিনী শেষ । এবার দেখুন আপনার মূল ফাইলটি যেখানে সেভ করেছেন তার পাশে একটি ব্যাকআপ কপি তৈরী হয়েছে যা ১ মিনিট পর পর অটোমেটিক আপডেট হবে।

পিসি অন করলাম কিন্তু কিছুই আসছে না মনিটর

অনেক সময় দেখা যায় যে পিসি অন করলাম কিন্তু কিছুই আসছে না মনিটর এ। সে ক্ষেত্রে যা করতে
হবে তা হল , প্রথমেই খেয়াল রাখতে হবে যে পিসি থেকে কোণ প্রকার শব্দ আসছে কিনা। যদি আপনি
শুনতে পান খিন্ কোণ শব্দ আসছে তাহলে পিসিটি বন্ধ করে দিন। এর পর পিসি টির বাঁ পাসে যে কভার
আছে তা সাবধানে খুলে ফেলুন।অবশ্যই মনে রাখবেন মেইন সুইচ , যেটাতে আপনার পিসি টি সংযুক্ত
তা অফ রাখুন। এর পরে খেয়াল করুন নিচের ছবিটির মত আপনার পিসি টিতে RAM slot আছে।

RAM SLOT  এর দু পাশে দেখুন দুটি সাদা নব আছে যা আপনার RAM  টিকে SLOT  এর সাথে আটকে
রাখতে সাহায্য করে। নব টি নিচের দিকে চাপ দিন। যদি আপনার একাধিক RAM থাকে তাহলে সবগুলোই
খূলে ফেলুন। এবার RAM ছাড়া আপণার পিসি টি ON করুণ। যদি ON করবার পর BEEP SOUND শুনতে
পান তাহলে বুঝতে হবে আপনার  MOTHERBOARD টি ঠীক আছে। এর পর কোণ পরিষ্কার BRASH দিয়ে
slot গুলো পরিস্কার করে নিন। এখন একটি RAM  আগে লাগান, এর পর আপনার পিসি টি ON  করুণ।
আশা করি এখণ আপনার পিসি DISPLAY এসেছে। যদি এসে থাকে তাহলে দ্বিতীয়ও RAM  টি লাগিয়ে
দেখুন এবারও যদি কোণ সমস্যা না কড়েই DISPLAY চলে আশে তাহলে আপনার সমস্যাটি ঠীক
হোয়ে গেছে। আর যদি না হয় তবে বুঝতে হবে আপনার RAM টি পরিবর্তন করবার সময় হয়েছে।
RAM  পরিবর্তন করলেই আপনি আবার আপনার পিসি টি চালাতে পারবেন।

যেকোন প্রোগ্রাম ওপেন করতে শর্টকাটে শর্টকাট কী তৈরী করার শর্টকার্ট টিপস

১) Start মেনু থেকে All Programs এ যেয়ে  Microsoft Office এ যান,














২) এবার  Excel 2003 এর উপর রাইট বাটন ক্লিক করে Properties এ ক্লিক করুন।


















৩) তার পর  Shortcut ট্যাব থেকে Shortcut key: তে  Ctrl+Alt+Num 1 প্রেস করুন।
৪) সবশেষে Apply ক্লিক করে Cancel করুন।
ব্যাস কিচ্ছা খতম। এবার Ctrl+Alt+Num 1 প্রেস করে দেখুন।

মুছে ফেলুন অপ্রয়োজনীয় Prefetch ফাইল

জমে থাকা Prefetch ফাইল কম্পিউটারকে স্লো করে দেয়। আমরা সাধারনত Start/Run-G গিয়ে prefetch লিখে এই ফাইলগুলো ডিলিট করি।কিন্তু আপনি ইচ্ছে করলে এই ফাইলগুলো অটোমেটিক ডিলিট করতে পারেন।এজন্য প্রথমে My computer এ যান,এবার আপনার হার্ড ড্রাইভে যান।এখানে কোন ফাঁকা জায়গায় Right click করে New অপশন থেকে Text document এ যান এবং এটি deleteprefetch নামে সেভ করুন। এবার Double click দিয়ে এই ফাইলে প্রবেশ করুন এবং লিখুন del C:\Windows\Prefetch\*.* /Q .GLb File/Save as থেকে All files নির্বাচিত করুন Save as type হিসেবে।সবশেষে deleteprefetch.bat নামে এটি সেভ করুন।লক্ষ্য করে দেখুন একটি Batch file তৈরী হয়েছে। এবার থেকে এই Batch file-G Double click দিলেই Prefetch ফাইলগুলো অটোমেটিক ডিলিট হয়ে যাবে।

তৈরী করুন যেকোন সফটওয়্যারের পোর্টেবল ভার্সন

কাজে অকাজে  বিভিন্ন সময় পিসিতে আমরা নানা রকম সফটওয়্যার ইনস্টল করি।অত্যাধিক সফটওয়্যারের চাপে সি ড্রাইভের যে বারোটা বাজে এটা আমরা অনেকেই বুঝতে চাই না।আবার অনেক সময় সামান্য কাজের জন্যও ষফটওয়্যার ইনস্টল করতে হয়।তবে পোর্টেবল সফটওয়্যার ব্যবহার করলে এই ঝামেলা থাকে না ।কিন্তু আমরা যে সফটওয়্যার ব্যবহার করতে চাই তার বেশীরভাগেরই পোর্টেবল ভার্সন পাওয়া যায়  না।  তবে আপনি চাইলে নিজেই যেকোন সফটওয়্যারের পোর্টেবল ভার্সন তৈরী করতে পারেন।এই কাজটি করতে আপনার লাগবে   Thinstall নামের একটি সফটওয়্যার।

ব্যবহারবিধি-
১.ইনস্টলের পর setup capture চালু করে দুইবার next দিন।

২.how to install লেখা স্ক্রীন এলে মিনিমাইজ করুন
৩.যে সফটওয়্যারটি পোর্টেবল করবেন সেটি ইনস্টল করুন(পোর্টেবল করার কাজ সম্পন্ন হয়ে গেলে ইনস্টলকৃত কপিটি ইচ্ছে করলে রিমোভ করে দিতে পারেন)।
৪.এখন maximize করে next-এ যান।
৫.usb flash/portable media সিলেক্ট করে next দিন।
৫.পরবর্তী ফাইল কম্প্রেস করার অপশন আসবে ।ফাইল কম্প্রেস করতে না চাইলে অপশনটি আনচেক করে next দিন।

৬.সবশেষে browse project তৈরীকৃত পোর্টেবল সফটওয়্যারটি কোথায় সেভ হয়েছে তা দেখে নিতে পারেন।
ব্যস হয়ে গেলো সফটওওয়্যারের পোর্টেবল ভার্সন।

আপনার Ram এর গতি বাড়াম

অনেক সময় দেখা যায় যে যারা দীর্ঘসময় ধরে পিসি চালালে প্রথম দিকের চাইতে শেষের দিকে পিসির গতি কিছুটা ধীর মনে হয় ।আপনি ছোট একটা প্রোগ্রাম দিয়ে মাঝে মাঝে গতি ধীর মনে হলে বাড়িয়ে নিতে পারেন।

এজন্য আপনাকে নিচের পদ্ধতি অনুসরন করতে হবে। প্রথমে আপনি নোটপ্যাডে লিখুন         mystring=(80000000) এবার এটিকে *.vbe ফাইল আকারে সেভ করে ফেলুন
অথবা  myscript=(80000000) কোডটি ব্যাবহার করতে পারেন সেক্ষেত্রে আপনাকে *.vbs আকারে নোটপ্যাডটি সেভ করতে হবে।

এবার যখন আপনার পিসি একটু ধীর মনে হবে তখনই আপনি এই সেভ করা ফাইল যেকোন টিতে ক্লিক দিবেন দেখবেন আপনার পিসি আবার আগের গতি ফিরে পেয়েছে।

আজ থেকে শুরু করুন ফেসবুকে ভিডিও চ্যাট

আমরা সবাই জানি  ফেসবুকে এসএমএস চ্যাট করা গেলেও ভিডিও চ্যাট করা যেত না। তবে এখন ফেসবুকে ভিচ্যাটার (vChatter) নামের নতুন একটি প্রোগ্রাম যোগ করা হয়েছে ভিডিও চ্যাট করার জন্য। প্রোফাইলে ভিডিও চ্যাট অপশন যোগ করার জন্য প্রথমে www.facebook.com/vchatter   ঠিকানায়  গিয়ে বাঁদিক থেকে Go to Application বাটনে ক্লিক করুন।
তারপর Continue-তে ক্লিক করুন। নতুন একটি উইন্ডো এলে Allow-এ ক্লিক করুন। এখন Play বাটনে ক্লিক করুন। ডান পাশে আপনার বন্ধুদের নামের তালিকা আসবে। যারা vChatter অপশনটি তাদের প্রোফাইলে যোগ করেছে তাদের নামের পাশে Call এবং যারা যোগ করেনি তাদের নামের পাশে Invite লেখা থাকবে। সেখান থেকে Call বাটনে ক্লিক করে তার সঙ্গে ভিডিও চ্যাট করতে পারবেন এবং Invite বাটনে ক্লিক করো Chatter অপশনটি তার প্রোপাইলে যোগ করার জন্য অনুরোধ করতে পারবেন। ভিডিও চ্যাট করার জন্য কিন্তু অবশ্যই কম্পিউটারের সঙ্গে একটি ওয়েবক্যামেরা সংযুক্ত করতে হবে।
তবে আর দেরি কেন আজ থেকে শুরু  করুন ফেসবুকে ভিডিও চ্যাট ।
জুমিয়ে আড্ডা মারুন ফ্রেন্ডদের সাথে।
এখন থেকে আপনি বুজতে পারবেন কোন আইডি ফেক আর কোনটা সঠিক।
আর কিছু বলবনা, আমি জানি আপনারা অনেক চালাক।

Microsoft word এ টুলবারে প্রয়োজনীয় কোন টুল সংযুক্ত করুন খুব সহজে। FONT change এখন এক click এ হবে

MICROSOFT WORD:টুলবারে অনেক প্রয়োজনীয় টুল বা আইকন থাকে। এগুলোতে ক্লিক করে আমরা দ্রুত প্রয়োজনীয় কোন নির্দেশ প্রয়োগ করতে পারি। যেমন:  বাটনে click করলে ডকুমেন্ট save হবে। পৃদর্শনের সীমাবদ্ধতা হেতু টুলবারে অনেক প্রয়োজনীয় টুল সংযুক্ত থাকে না। যেমন: আপনি যদি এক বার বাংলা একবার english type করতে যান তখন আপনার বার বার font change করতে হয়।এটা খুব সময় সাপেক্ষ তাই ২টি font toolbar এ থাকলে ভাল হয় আপনি খুব দ্রুত font change করতে পারবেন। এই রকম আপনার প্রয়োজন অনুসারে বিভিন্ন tool toolbar এ সংযুক্ত করা থাকলে কাজ করা অনেক সহজ হয়।

আলোচিত  টুলটি যদি toolbar না থাকে তাহলে আপনি নিন্মের নিয়মে নিয়ে আসুন:-

·        Tools মেনুতে click করুন

·        Customize এ click করুন

·        Commands এ click অথবা(Alt+C চাপুন)। পর্দায় customize ডায়ালগ বক্স আসবে।

·        Catagories লেখা box এ font (শেষ থেকে ৫ নম্বরে) লেখা খুজে বের করুণ এবং click করুন।

·        দেখুন commands লেখা box এ আপনার install করা font গুলো দেখাচ্ছে।

·        যেহেতু আমরা english এবং বাংলা font toolbar এ রাখব তাই প্রথমে যেকোন English font select করি ।আমি times new roman ব্যবহার করি তাই এটা select করলাম।এবার select করা font কে mouse দিয়ে টেনে নিয়ে(drag করে)toolbar এ রাখুন।

 

  একই নিয়মে বাংলা font select  করে toolbar এ নিয়ে যান।আমি sutonny mj  ব্যবহার করি তাই এটা নিলাম।এবার দেখূন ২টি font ই toolbar এ আছে।আপনার যখন দরকার তখন সেই font click করুন তাহলেই হয়ে যাবে আপনাকে বার বার font খুজে বের করতে হবে না।

এভাবেই আপনি আপনার দরকারি tools নিয়ে আসতে পারেন।

খুব সহজেই মেমোরি কার্ড অথবা পেন ড্রাইভের ব্যাকগ্রাউন্ড এ নিজের ছবি দিন ।

আপনি ইচ্ছে করলে পেনড্রাইভ/মেমোরি কার্ডের ব্যাকগ্রাউন্ডে আপনার পছন্দের ইমেজ যুক্ত করতে পারেন। এজন্য প্রথমে একটি ফোল্ডার তৈরি করুন এবং যে ইমেজটি ব্যাকগ্রাউন্ড হিসেবে দিবেন সেই ইমেজটি ফোল্ডারের ভিতরে রাখুন, তারপর একটি নোটপ্যাড খুলুন, নিচের কোডটি টাইপ করুন অথবা কপি করে পেষ্ট করুন।

এখন এটিকে Save as এ গিয়ে desktop.ini নামে সেভ  করে বেরিয়ে আসুন

উল্লেখ্য কোডের যে অংশে Images\Delouar.jpg লেখা আছে সে অংশটিকে আপনার ফোল্ডার এবং ইমেজের নাম দ্বরা রিপ্লেস করুন। উদাহরন: আপনার ফোল্ডারের নাম যদি হয় Images-2 এবং ফোল্ডারের ভেতরের ইমেজের নাম যদি হয় Computer.jpg তাহলে Images\probarta.jpg
এর জায়গায় লিখতে হবে Images-2/Computer.jpg
তারপর নোটপ্যাডটিকে রিনেম করুন desktop.ini (.txt ফরমেট এর পরিবর্তে .ini ফরমেট হবে) নামে
এবার ফেল্ডার এবং desktop.ini ফাইলটি কপি বা কাট করে পেনড্রাইভ/মেমোরি কার্ডে পেষ্ট করে পেজটি Refresh করুন।
দেখুন আপনার ইমেজটি ব্যাকগ্রাউন্ডে চলে এসেছে।

প্রোসেসর এর গতি কম ? তাহলে এখনই কম গতিসম্পন্ন Processor কে বানিয়ে ফেলুন উচ্চ গতিসম্পন্ন Processor

আমরা অনেকেই আমাদের কম্পিউটার এর গতি নিয়ে খুব বিপাকে পড়ি ।আমার তো আগে কম্পিউটার এ কাজ করতে গেলেই অনেক সময় লাগতো ।এখন আমি সর্বোচ্চ গতি সম্পন্ন Processor বানিয়ে নিয়েছি আমার সাধারন Processor কে ! কিভাবে ? জানতে চান ?  নিচে দেখুন :
প্রথমেই start থেকে run এ যান এবং নিচের code গুলো লিখুন
Rundll32.exe advapi32.dll,ProcessIdleTasks
এরপর ok করুন । ব্যস হয়ে গেল,এরপর কম্পিউটার একাই কাজ করে নিবে ।  এটি active হওয়ার পর থেকে পরবর্তী shutdown পর্যন্ত কাজে দিবে তারপর আবার down তাই আবার আপনাকে একই কাজ করতে হবে ।

Steps to be followed for this technique
Step-1: Software installation.
Step-2: Create bootable CD.
Step-3: Create image.
Step-4: Restore image.
Materials to be required:
01. Acronis software
02. A Blank CD.
Step-1: (Software installation):
First you need to install a software named “Acronis true image”. You can purchase this software from market, from internet or you can download free trial from acronis website. To download acronis software free from acronis website click here
After downloading acronis software you need to install that & a serial number might be required for install. Follow the following steps:
♦ Run the acronis software.
♦ Click on “install acronis true image home”. Click next. Accept the agreement. Then next. Select ‘yes I want to participate in the ACEP’. Click next.
♦ Give your name. E-mail address and country. Click next.
♦ Click on ‘typical’ and then next.
♦ Select ‘install for the current user only’. Click on ‘proceed’. Your acronis software will proceed to install. After installation reboot your pc.
♦ A short cut icon will appear on your desktop. Now you need to activate acronis software. Click on the acronis short cut icon. Click on activate and give serial number that you collected before. Click on activate now. You did it! Your acronis software now install successfully.
Step: 2 (Create bootable CD): 
♦ Insert a blank CD into your CD or DVD writer.
♦ To run acronis click ‘start’ from your desktop then program>Acronis>Acronis true image home> click on ‘bootable rescue media builder’. A dialogue box will appear and click on next.
♦ On the following dialogue box check the write named ‘acronis true image home’. Then next and again next.
♦ In a new dialogue box you will see your CD or DVD writer name. Select your writer and press next. Then click proceed. After completing CD write your pc’s CD tray will automatically be ejected. Collect the CD that is bootable and you successfully completed second step!
Step: 3 (Create a backup image): 
Now you need to create a backup image for your windows installation. Before creating backup consider the following things:
♦ Only fresh windows should be used for backup. Means in the time for creating backup your current windows should be free from all error.
♦ Check your antivirus as it active or not.
♦ Install your important software before creating backup.
♦ Uninstall unnecessary software.
Now go to your desktop start menu>program>Acronis>Acronis true image home>Click on ‘Acronis true image home’. A box will appear that says ‘what would you like to do?’
♦ Click on ‘My Discs’ on backup option.
♦ A new box will appear. Ensure NTFS (C:) is check in. If not check the check box of C drive named NTFS (C:). Click next.

♦ On following dialogue box choose a path where backup file will save. By clicking on ‘browse’ on backup location you can select the path. Click next and then proceed. A backup image will create into your selected path. Checkout the location where you select for save.
Step: 4 (Restore the backup image):
Now if your windows crashed or facing any problem, so that you need to set up windows again. You can now setup it with all other software by just only 5 minutes. Insert your bootable CD into your CD room that you create in the second step. Before going to windows setup you need to configure your computer bios setup. Press ‘Del’ in the time of starting your computer (some computer may need to press F2 for bios setup).
♦ On the bios setup use keyboard arrow to select ‘Boot’ option.
♦ Select ‘Boot device priority’ by pressing enter. You will see 1st boot device, 2nd boot device etc. By selecting 1st boot device press enter. A dialogue box will appear. By keyboard arrow key select ‘CDROM’ and press enter. Go back and press ‘Esc” for exit setup. A box will appear saying ‘save configuration change and exit now?’ by selecting ‘ok’ press enter.
♦ Now restart your pc. You will see acronis interface like this


click on ‘Acronis true image option’. You will see a box says ‘what would you like to do?’ Click on ‘Recovery’ upper left side on the box and then click ‘Disc and partition Recovery’ a box will appear. Now click on browse and select the backup file that you create in step 3. After selecting backup file click next. By selecting Recover whole disc and partition click next.
♦ Now select NTFS (C:) and press next. Again click next on next box click proceed. Your windows will setup with whole software that you backup! And after completing first three steps once you just need 5 minutes to install windows xp in ever!!

Method 2 Full XP Install

1. You will need a special tool to copy the Installationfiles and making the USB-stick/SD card bootable - usb_multiboot_10.zip
2. Unpack to any folder. THE PATH TO YOUR FOLDER MUST BE SIMPLE AND WITHOUT SPACES! (ex. c:\usb_multiboot_10)
3. Insert USBstick / SD card.
   1. ALL DATA ON YOUR STICK WILL BE ERASED! Please back up before running USB_MultiBoot_10.cmd!
4. Run USB_MultiBoot_10.cmd. follow text description.
5. Format utility will apear. Choose NTFS for >=4Gb usb flash and FAT16 for other, Start format, Close after finishing to allow the DOS operations to continue.
   1. diamondsw: Using the “HP format” option works fine for any capacity, and you can use FAT32 without problems (I used a 4GB stick). This can be useful as more systems can read FAT32 than NTFS.
   2. NOTE: If you are doing this from a Vista machine, you may need to run PeToUSB.exe as adminstrator in order for this program to recognize the jump drive. (Right click PeToUSB.exe > Properties > Compatibility > “Run this program as an administrator” checked.)
6. Set options 1 and 2. Set option 0 only if you want to use USB HDD instead of a USB stick/ SD card.
7. Do not touch other options if you have no idea about it.
8. Choose 3 after setting all other options. It will create the image and write it to the USB stick as well as making the USBstick / SD card bootable.
9. Answer Yes to all questions that come up (these vary depending on options selected).
10. When it finishes copying, remove your usb stick and insert it in the EeePC to install XP.
11. When you turn on the Eee, hold down “Esc” to choose the boot device and select the USB stick/ SD card. You'll need to do this at each reboot until XP is fully installed and you've logged in.
12. Choose Text installation at first time and GUI INSTALLATION AFTER REBOOT TWICE! - ( Choose step 1 to start installing, after reboot choose step two, after continued install press step 2 AGAIN to log into XP - As soon as you arrive at the Windows XP Desktop you can safely remove the USBStick / SD card.
    1. If you get hal.dll not found errors, read carefully the last two last bullets!
    2. If you get 'ntldr is missing' or other boot errors after you have ran text installation make sure you have deleted ALL partitions during 'text installation' this includes the BIOS partition.

IMPORTANT! DO NOT REMOVE USB STICK UNTIL YOU'LL SEE XP's LOGIN SCREEN!

Method 3 nLited XP install

IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR EEEPC 901 MODEL USERS!

When you nLite your XP installation MAKE SURE YOU DO NOT REMOVE "Multi Processor Support" in the "Hardware Support" tree AND "Manual install and upgrade" in the "Operating system options" tree
REMOVING any of these WILL make you UNABLE to install XP
Problems you might get from removing these will be Installation Bluescreens and 'configuration errors'

1. Make iso image in nLite.
2. Install Daemon Tools Lite virtual CD software [http://www.daemon-tools.cc/dtcc/download.php?mode=Download&id=34] (free/adware) you will need to reboot, or use any other virtualizing CD/DVD software: Alcohol, Nero etc.
3. Mount your nLite image into system. (Right click on red icon near system clock, choose Mount, find your nLited CD image)
4. Make 1-5 steps from Method 2 then:
5. On menu 1: (Choose your XP distributive source) choose your virtual drive with nLite image. Your drive letter can be different)
6. It will automatically detect nLited version and will make all settings automatically.
7. Press 3: Make multiboot USB-Drive …
8. Answer Yes to all questions, start copying.
9. When it finishes copying, remove your usb stick and insert it in the EeePC to install your nLited XP.
10. When you turn on the Eee, hold down “Esc” to choose the boot device and select the USB stick/ SD card. You'll need to do this at each reboot until XP is fully installed and you've logged in.

mlehtola: Just installed XP sp3 into 901 (20G Linux) without Daemon Tools, just showed the nLited folder for the “usb_multiboot_10”, so I guess the Daemon Tools are not required…usb stick was Kingston DataTraveler 1 GB

Using the 8/16GB SSD on the Eee 900

If you're installing on an Eee 900 and want to use the larger 8 or 16GB SSD, you'll want to disable the onboard 4GB SSD in the BIOS prior to installing Windows. Otherwise Windows will insist on writing its bootsector and files to the 4GB drive, possibly corrupting what is already there. Most guides on the subject assume you're using a desktop that you can swap master and slave drives on, or remove drives you don't want to affect - not so with the soldered 4GB SSD.
To disable the onboard SSD:

1. Hold F2 and turn on the Eee.
2. When the BIOS configuration screen appears, press right to switch to the “Advanced” tab.
3. Select “IDE Configuration”, and set the IDE Master to “None” instead of onboard SSD.
4. The 4GB SSD will still appear in the Windows Setup program (text portion), but you can safely ignore it - Windows will not attempt to place its bootsector there, and instead will keep everything self-contained on the 16GB SSD.

Note that when you install onto the 8 or 16GB SSD, you will need to select option “3” for GUI installation, which tells it to continue on the second drive rather than the first.

Known Problems

hal.dll not found

Method 1:
If you get the hal.dll not found error message, start again from your USB-Drive and choose option 2 “Gui-Installation” which should work now. (If option 2 doesn't work choose option 4 and “Windows XP from HD” on the next screen.) Follow the installation process until you reach a usable windows desktop. The error message is misleading, it's nothing wrong with your hal.dll - your boot.ini has a corrupted entry which is easy to fix:

1. Search for boot.ini (normally it's located on C:\)
2. Open the boot.ini
3. Delete the line that referres to “Windows-USB-Boot” - it should be the last line
4. Save & Exit

Your Eee should now boot Windows normally without the pen drive.
* Note for anyone with an error relating to “dsfo.exe not found” - copy the file USB_MultiBoot_9/makebt/dsfo.exe to USB_MultiBoot_9/dsfo.exe
Verified on an Asus Eee 701 4G and Asus Eee 900 20G
Method 2:
I tried Method 1 and didn't work. The issue was that I had more than one partition. All the forum posts suggest to delete ALL partitions. Well, here is how to bypass loss of your partitions:

1. In step 1 of Windows XP install, when you chose the partition where you want to install Windows, note the partition number. (If you got the hal.dll error probably it was not partition 1).
2. Use another computer to edit the following: on the USB stick, locate boot.ini file. Open it in an editor. Look for multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(1)partition(1) and replace it with multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(1)partition(x), where x is the partition number where you install Windows.
3. Plug the USB back in your netbook and just choose option 2 again. It should work.

I found that useful as some netbooks come with a partition that holds an image of the original system for easy restore. In most of the cases you don't want to lose that, do you?

Faster installs using an SD card

The above method using a USB flash drive will do it's job. However it is a very slow procedure. The reason is that Windows XP setup doesn't load USB2 drivers. Instead, it uses the motherboard's legacy USB1 driver. However, we can get USB2 speed by performing all of the above operation on a fast SD card. The SD card reader on the eeePC is USB2 (you can prove it by booting into the BIOS with a card in the slot and checking the list of drives).
1. Perform all of the above procedure, except pointing the target to an SD card in a USB card reader. You will end up with a bootable SD card. It's preferable to use a fast reading SD card, but you will get good speed even with a normal speed card.
2. Put the SD card in the card reader of the eeePC. Boot into the BIOS (F2), change the boot order so that the card is booted from. That's it. It's as fast as using an internal DVD drive.
